If someone can help please send me the link so I can down load it or any suggestions you may have. Thanks Bob Aug 24, 2012 17,533 2,080 89,240 #2 IE 8 is built-in to Windows 7. If you've installed the IE9 update then all you need to do is uninstall IE9 via 'Control Panel->Programs and Features', select 'View installed updates' in the left column, then locate the entry for 'Internet Explorer 9', right-click on it and choose 'Uninstall'. Your system will be reverted to IE8 at that point. #3 Hi, different guy here with a similar need... sorry if this question is too basic... so I uninstalled IE9, and now I have nothing, no icon... so how do I find/run IE8? I searched C drive for iexplore.exe... found dozens (???), clicked on one, and it tries to "set up IE9".please let a noob know: once IE9 is uninstalled, how would I run IE8? thanks for any help,-Rf #4 So I d/l an IE8 setup .exe for XP... and when I try to install, I get the message:"Internet Explorer 8 is not supported on this operating system"...which is annoying, since it CAME with IE8 originally. I upgraded to 9, then uninstalled 9... but where did 8 go? Something's gone wrong, obviously... I would like to know if there is somewhere I could obtain IE 8 specifically for Win7... not the XP version, or the Vista version (I can find those...) #5 Very similar story as HarrySpider and previous comment, except with a twist:IE 9 was not listed in the Programs / Uninstall list. I had to luckily find a a related link "Turn Windows features on or off". Once I unchecked the IE9 box, I found that the Start button links to both 32 and 64 bit IE9's were gone. Neither of 8 or 9 are listed in the Uninstall list. Now, I can't find IE9 or 8 anywhere on the PC and I can't find a version of IE8 to download anywhere. Would be much obliged if someone could point me to a link for IE8 Windows 7 edition. #6 I had several other issues, so I did a "repair install". It didn't fix everything, but it returned IE8 eventually did a complete "clean install" to get ALL problems fixed. And the PC now runs amazingly well, without all the extra things I never needed... good luck! Advertising Cookies Policies Privacy Term & Conditions Topics. Iran, Turkmenistan and Afghanistan in the Middle East, and China, North Korea & Cambodia in the Far East stand out for their IE8 usage. This data is summarized in the map below: There’s a very clear top six countries for IE8 usage, after which the figures drop down to be comparable with the world average: 1. I looked more closely into the Asian stats, noting the proportion of IE8 usage for each country. Someone in Asia is five times more likely to be using IE8 than someone in Oceania. Here is the per-continent IE8 desktop proportion (data from February 2018 - January 2019): 1. I suspected we might see higher IE8 usage in certain geographical regions, so drilled into the data by continent. Worldwide usage of IE8 is at 0.37% according to StatCounter. It estimates global IE8 desktop browser proportion to be around 0.37%. The higher estimate comes from StatCounter (the same data feed used by the “Can I use” usage table). The lower end of the estimate comes from w3counter:įrom a peak of almost 30% at the end of 2010, W3Counter now believes IE8 accounts for 0.3% of global usage. Die. IE8 continues to show up in browser stats, especially outside of the bubble of the Western world.īrowser stats have to be taken with a pinch of salt, but current estimates for IE8 usage worldwide are around 0.3% to 0.4% of the desktop market share. Microsoft officially stopped supporting IE8, IE9 and IE10 over three years ago, and the Microsoft executives are even telling you to stop using Internet Explorer 11.īut as much as we developers hope for it to go away, it just. Who In The World Uses IE8?īefore we start a disclaimer: I am not about to tell you that you need to start supporting IE8. This time, I spent the day using Internet Explorer 8, which was released ten years ago today, on March 19th, 2009. Last time, I navigated the web for a day using a screen reader. I hope to raise the profile of difficulties faced by real people, which are avoidable if we design and develop in a way that is sympathetic to their needs. This article is part of a series in which I attempt to use the web under various constraints, representing a given demographic of user. Chris Ashton tries it out against the modern web, and considers how we can build our sites to last. Downlad internet explorer 8
