As of 2016 Autotask claimed to serve over 9,000 customers worldwide.[4]Autotask provides IT Business Management Software with the key product professional services automation (PSA) being synonymous with Autotask brand. Since its acquisition by the private equity firm Vista Equity Partners in 2014 the core Autotask produce product has bolstered by acquisitions including endpoint management, endpoint backup, file syncing and sharing, expense management, and project tracking.[4][5][6]In 2017 Vista Equity Partners choose to merge Autotask with the backup supplier Datto whilst choosing to leave the Datto branding in place.History[edit]Formation[edit]Formerly known as Autotask Group, LLC, Autotask Corporation was founded in New York’s capital district region in 2001.[7] CEO Bob Godgart, who also served on the Computing Technology Industry Association board from 2007-2008, built the company into a $20 million USD business from 2001 through the end of 2010.[8][9]In 2009 towards the end of Godgart's period saw Autotask acquire VARStreet which focused on helping Managed Service Providers (MSP) with product sourcing. The merger was only to last 21 months and ended with a management buyout of VARStreet.[8]International Development[edit]In response to Godgart leaving the company to pursue other ventures, Mark Cattini stepped in as CEO in December 2010. [10] The next four years seen a sales led internal expansion with offices opened in Australia, China and the United Kingdom.[11][12]Acquisition by Vista Equity Partners[edit]Austin, Texas based Vista Equity Partners completed the acquisition of Autotask Corporation on June 9, 2014.[13][14]Since that time, Autotask acquired two software companies:CentraStage - 2014 - a United Kingdom-based SaaS solution for managing endpoints.[15]Soonr - 2015 - a Silicon Valley startup that provides cloud applications that enables users to view and share PowerPoint presentations, Word documents, and other files from mobile devices.[16]These acquisitions grew the workforce by 51 percent, bringing Autotask’s total employment across the globe to 422 people by 2015.[17] As a large vendor of professional services automation technology for managed service providers (MSPs), Autotask opened three offices in Amsterdam, Manchester, and Copenhagen between 2015 and 2016.[18] Simultaneously, the company hired 70 new employees in 2015.[19] In order to support to support the software developer's growth in the U.S. and abroad, Autotask expanded their headquarters outside of Albany, New York to a 4,200 square-foot facility.[12] This gave Autotask the ability to house the growing sales workforce and provide new employees with an in-house training program at the Albany office.[12]Sales billed through the Autotask platform increased from $1 billion USD to $6 billion USD while managing over two billion documents in 2016.[20][21] By June 2016, the company had 443 employees - a 162 percent increase in a matter of
